Located in Robbinsdale, the international-style Terrace Theatre opened on May 23, 1951. At the time, it was one of the most luxurious and modern theaters in the country. The lobby was an ultramodern gem with large windows, metallic fixtures, and a sunken den complete with fireplace. A television lounge and nursery rooms for mothers with children were also available. Inside the theater, customers were treated to comfortably deep, plush seats and a state-of-the-art projection system.

The last movie played at the Terrace in 1999. In August 2016, the Robbinsdale City Council voted unanimously to demolish the Terrace to make way for a 91,500-square-foot Hy-Vee grocery store, a 4,500-square-foot convenience store and coffee shop, gas pumps, and a fast food drive-thru on the site.

Update: The Terrace Theater was sadly demolished in the fall and winter of 2016. The Robbinsdale Historical Society was able to save several items from the theater, including the light fixtures and metal letters from the top of the tower.
