Glader cemetery is located on a hill overlooking South Center Lake in Lindström. It is the oldest Lutheran cemetery in Chisago county and was affiliated with the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. The cemetery is no longer actively in use with all but one burial taking place prior to 1922. Some might recognize Glader Cemetery from author Vilhelm Moberg’s popular series, The Emigrants. The series follows the journey of a group of emigrants from Sweden to the United States in 1850, coinciding with the beginning of the first significant wave of immigration to the United States from Sweden. Characters Karl Oskar and Kiristina settle in Minnesota and live out their days in Chisago county. Their final (fictional) resting place is Glader Cemetery.
