The Chisago County State Bank was built in Center City in 1915. In August 1925, more than 60 citizen volunteers showed that they were prepared with rifles, pistols, and sawed-off shotguns to defend their community, especially the bank, against roving bank robbers and any other shady characters who might look for refuge from the law near the small community. The old bank still stands on the edge of downtown in great condition.
